Why Guatemala? (more FAQs)

The main reason is once we receive and accept a referral, the baby goes to a foster mother and is not in an orphanage; the foster mother is approved by our placement agency and the medical care is also overseen by our agency. Therefore, the baby will receive care, from birth, that is "up to American standards". We will have the opportunity to visit Guatemala, which is only a 3 1/2 hour flight from Atlanta, and possibly meet the birth mother from the time of referral (typically the baby's birth) before we bring Che home forever. It also helps that I am familiar with Guatemalan culture and I actually know Guatemalan people. We felt this was important. It is a fairly quick process (relatively speaking) from referral to bringing Che home.
Feel free to post any more questions.
